What you’ll be doing
The Registered Midwife coordinates and delivers high quality women and newborn-centred midwifery care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s Standards of Practice for Midwives, and the Policies and Procedures of the MoH and NNSWLHD.

  • Current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse (Division 1) and availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays.
  • Uses all available information to develop, monitor and evaluate a plan of care in consultation with women, newborns, families and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to support best women and newborn outcomes.
  • Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
  • Knowledge and understanding of women and newborn-centred care, evidence-based practice and quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, responsibly, and accountably with minimal supervision and effectively manage the use of staff and physical resources when rostered In-Charge of Shift
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to practice in accordance with legislation, policies and within the scope of practice of a Registered Midwife
