Purpose of the Role

The Registered Nurse will provide a comprehensive, holistic nursing service to patients within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. The registered nurse demonstrates nursing competence in the provision of nursing care to inpatients and outpatients, and undertake delegated activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.

  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • Potential applicants are advised that the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health employees and volunteers of aged care services to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate the applicants obtaining the above check.
  • It is a condition of employment for the employee in this role to be, and remain, vaccinated against or non-susceptible to the following Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs): Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox) and Pertussis (whooping cough) and Hepatitis B.
