AV is currently recruiting a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst role for their Transformation and Strategy Division in the AV Insights Centre. The duration of this fixed term role working full time hours, is 8 months from the date of commencement. The role is primarily based in our Doncaster Headquarters (currently working remotely).

About the role

Ambulance Victoria are in the current stages of a significant, organisation wide effort to uplift our data and analytics capability. We are a team of people with passion and skill and we are looking for a Senior BI Analyst who will help us strive to provide the organisation with innovative and impactful insights from our rich datasets.

Reporting to the Analytics Development Manager, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of BI and analytics tools to support strategic decision making at AV.
  • Leading the delivery of automated self-service dashboards, application creation and scheduled reporting, including managing the user acceptance testing, product release and maintenance as required.
  • Supporting AV’s Information Management program through collaborating on data quality and reference data projects.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement by constantly scanning the systems and tools you work with and working with the team to implement solutions.

 About you

Successful candidate attributes will reflect Ambulance Victoria’s overarching commitment to the protection, safety and well-being of patients, staff, and the community. In addition, the successful candidate will have a Tertiary or post graduate qualification in data related discipline, and possess/have demonstrable experience in:

  • Collaborating on projects involving advanced BI and analytical methods, scoping projects, and distilling complex insights into meaningful narratives and visualisations for senior management.
  • Skills in data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau or OBIEE) and analysis technical specialties (SQL, R, Python, SAS or similar)
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to package and convey complicated analyses in a simple and easy-to-understand way
  • Ever-curious mind wanting to find the “why” behind the “what” and always looking to improve processes and automate where possilbe
  • Thriving in a rapidly changing, agile environment with little direct supervision

The skills below would be advantageous:

  • Demonstratable experience in using Power BI to productionise self-service dashboards and scheduled reporting
  • Exposure to cloud technology and services, in particular Azure
  • Background in data warehousing, business intelligence implementation and deployment of organisation wide reports and dashboards
  • Experience in leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and product release management.

AV has introduced salary bands and this position is graded at AV5. The AV grade salary range for an AV5 position is $119,839 to $141,669 (pro rata) (Inclusive of EB 2.5% increase) plus 9.5% superannuation. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Australian National Criminal Check and pre-employment checks.
