Position summary

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Cost Controller with experience in large EPC scopes of work to join our Infrastructure Projects team. You will first join a project based north of Canberra (technically in NSW) until mid 2021. You will be responsible for reporting the financial position of the project and the management of costs. Success in the role will rely on your strong cash flow and financial management skills to provide the Commercial Manager with advice and guidance on all project cost and financial matters. Both a 10/4 roster or 5/2 roster will be considered depending on your place of residence. 


  • Lead and assist with the compilation of financial budgets and forecasts for the project including but not limited to project working hours;
  • Manage costs and complete progress tracking; tracking quantities and performing trend analysis
  • Conduct financial audits on the projects, with a focus on cost and revenue forecasts;
  • Monitor outstanding debtors and assist the Project Manager to resolve;
  • Identify and assist with the resolution of project related accounting issues;
  • Head contract claim management and Sub-contract claim management
  • Maintain a list of month-end reporting deadlines for the project and ensure that profit and cash flow forecasts are prepared on time and with accuracy;
  • Constructively collaborate with the Project team to develop and implement strategies and solutions for the project where able;
  • Develop cost related indices and factors as an alternative method for confirming forecasting accuracy and/or financial integrity.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (Business/Accounting/Engineering);
  • 3-5 years’ experience in cost management and control
  • Significant experience working on major engineering and/or construction projects (wind farm development and construction highly regarded)
  • Exposure to site based cost engineering: dealing with cash flow and financial management and contractor management;
  • Experience with estimate at completion management and estimate to complete management
  • Experience in managing a cost control software system 
  • Basic understanding of the project program and map costs to the program deliverables
  • Understand construction project planning and management (CPPM)
  • Understanding the interfaces between Balance of Plant and Supply & Installation contracts will be highly regarded
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with the Project Manager, design and delivery team, subcontractors and the client with regards to all matters pertaining to project budgets;
  • High level of attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate flexibility as you adapt to changing deadlines and business demands.
