The Opportunity:

The Electrical and Infrastructure Team in WSP supports a wide range of projects focussing on wind and solar farms, battery energy storage, and transport (traction power), with broader opportunities including water/wastewater and transmission/distribution substations. Our services to these projects range from conceptual and detailed design to technical due diligence and Owner’s Engineer. The role of Senior Electrical Engineer in the team provides HV and LV electrical engineering input to these projects and provides leadership support including project management of small- to medium-sized projects and coaching and mentoring junior staff.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical or Electronic Engineering) or Equivalent. Chartered Professional Engineer.
  • Typically, 8-10 years’ experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a consultancy environment.
  • HV and LV electrical engineering input to conceptual and detailed design projects in renewable power, traction power, water/wastewater and other industries.
  • Undertaking client-facing roles, providing robust advice and supporting WSP’s projects by clear communication of project status, issues and risks.
  • HV (primary) design of transmission/distribution substations including layouts, switchboard ratings, cable sizing.
  • Power system earthing design capability in CDEGS is highly desirable.
  • Protection grading studies for LV and MV systems.
  • Wind Farm BOP design and solar farm AC and DC design.
  • Development of specifications at the project level and equipment level.
  • Working knowledge of power system protection and SCADA systems.
  • Technical Due Diligence roles for wind and solar farms.
  • Project Management of small- to medium-sized consulting projects.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff in electrical engineering or project delivery.
  • Fulfilling all requirements of the project scope and ensuring technical input complies with applicable legislation and standards.
  • Providing leadership in Safety-in-Design (SID) and fulfilling legislative requirements in SID
  • Coordinating with drafters and other teams as required.
  • Undertaking short-term site visits and/or off-site secondments according to business needs
  • Author proposals and contribute to business development for the team.
