Purpose of the role

The purpose of this role is to develop and support a team of Advice Policy Managers and Consultants to design and develop end to end advice policy and compliance solutions that support advisers provide quality and efficient financial services to their clients. These include policy, advice systems and tools solutions and support, training and other support collateral. The Senior Manager Advice Policy will also be responsible to provide consultation to the Advice Business on legislative and regulatory trends and issues, develop an advice policy review framework and processes to align to emerging standards set by Regulators, Industry Bodies and Legislative change.

Key Responsibilities

Role responsibilities include development and effective delivery of clear professional standards and support materials that aim to enhance the client experience and reflect the requirements of regulation and AMP strategic direction.

  • Responsibility to manage initiatives that enhance and broaden the advice offerings of AMP Licensees and advisers and add value for clients.
  • Leverage experience in Policy development and design to develop capability in the team to ensure policy and supporting material is effective in helping advisers deliver quality services to their clients, is able to align to current regulatory and community standards and is of a high level of quality.
  • Responsible for leading continuous improvement activity to enhance adviser understanding of their financial service requirements and fully embed best interest duty and related obligations into their advice process.
  • Working with the Advice Policy Learning Design Manager, help drive and devlelp an effective delivery and embedding of advice standards to fully inform advisers and staff of new standards and tools using the mediums available including Licensee portals, newsletters and training.
  • Lead engagement with relevant teams to ensure that professional standards are supported by appropriate tools, systems and processes.
  • Set the standard for the right balance between best practice, commercial imperatives, AMP Group risk statement and adviser productivity.
  • Develop and maintain close and effective working relationships with key stakeholders including adviser representative bodies, senior advice leaders, AMP Legal and external regulatory and industry bodies to ensure advice policy is compliant, relevant, and are effective in assisting advisers comply with their requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise that supports coaching and development of team members
  • Be an active member of the Advice Policy and Projects team to foster collaboration and communication among team members
  • Lift the knowledge and understanding of the Advice Policy and Projects team members through coaching and guidance on specialist advice topics and policy development frameworks.
  • Support initiatives that drive AMP’s business priorities and the objectives of our key stakeholders.

Capabilities & Experience

  • 8-10 years experience in a related role eg policy, legal governance and/or compliance.
  • Experience in managing relationships with licensees and financial planners and understanding their needs.
  • Superior personal interaction skills to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to set goals and prioritise work and/or projects to meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in making decisions that improve the adviser and client experience whilst minimising risk to the Licensee.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of policy and the development of others.
  • Tertiary qualifications in related legal, economics, financial planning or business discipline required.
  • Advanced Diploma in Financial Services or equivalent
