How will I help?

Reporting to the  Head of FM Operational & Compliance Risk, the Senior Manager wi ll be responsible for  managing risk management and monitoring obligations in the Central Trading Desk and Chief Operating Office business within Financial Markets, supporting consistent implementation, and embedding of risk management framework, policies and controls.  This position will play an integral part of the implementation and maintenance of a robust compliance solution for derivative regulations in particular the more descriptive CFTC/NFA regulations surrounding our Swap Dealer compliance.

You will  be responsible for ensuring that the Risk and Compliance Matrix (RCM) process is managed and maintained in line with WBC’s 3 Lines of Defence frameworks and policies along with reporting to the senior FM leadership team to report on the management of Operational and Compliance Risk across the Central Desk and Chief Operating Office business. This person will assist leadership in the supervision, monitoring and management (within appetite) of a number of non-market and credit risks, including operational and compliance risks and assist LoB leadership to drive a strong, embedded risk culture that optimises risk / reward and helps achieve efficient business objectives.

You will  encourage and lead a continual development of a culture of compliance with regulatory, fiduciary, legal obligations, industry standards and key internal policies whilst working alongside lines 2 and 3 Risk and Compliance Managers to drive and facilitate key risk processes such as; Risk and Control Assessments, incident management and issues and actions.

What do I need?

A strong candidate will bring 10 plus years of experience across compliance risk and operational risk. This experience will come from a banking background. You will s ignificant experience in CFTC, SEC,  NFA swap dealer regulations and the implementation of compliance processes and controls supporting regulatory compliance on top of experience  with the SEC, FINRA, CFTC, NFA, an exchange, law firm, or another broker-dealer or FCM. You will have a strong overall product knowledge and regulatory experience within the OTC derivatives and swap dealer businesses.

You will hold stakeholder management skills and be highly proficient with both your verbal and written communication. You will be asked to challenge and hold your own amongst some key people across the organisation and provide your thought leadership on several matters. Company secretariat skills are desirable and having the ability to generate reports in a way that is succinct and engages board/committee members.
