This role would suit a VR General Practitioner with FACRRM or FRACGP preferred, who has experience in dealing with complex patients impacted by alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and who has a commitment to providing effective and efficient evidence based care.

About the role
The role of the Senior Medical Officer – Opiate Substitution Prescriber (SMO- OSP) is to lead high quality primary care clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service held within the Townsville Correctional Centre. This includes working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary care team, promoting research, as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
The successful applicant must hold general AHPRA registration, with advanced qualifications relevant to the role such as FRACGP. Endorsed and credentialed as an Opiate Substitution Therapy Prescriber with relevant proven experience and registration requirements would be desirable, however a willingness to undergo the training and up-skilling to achieve the qualifications is also acceptable.
What’s on offer?
Permanent role, 32 hours per fortnight. Sessions are negotiable, and can fit around private practice responsibilities.
Generous pro-rata remuneration package of up to $167,448, comprising salary range of $76.40 tp $105.53 p.h. (L13-L25).
(Level of appointment is dependent upon experience and advanced qualifications).
