Currently, approximately 1000 students attend the school representing over 65 different nationalities and including approximately 90 Aboriginal students. The numerous extra-curricular opportunities include the areas of performing arts, student leadership, engineering and technology, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, the environment and media and communication. Plumpton High School has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Education Awards 2020 in the categories of ‘Secondary School of the Year – Government’ and ‘Best Co-Curriculum Program’. The school was also named as one of the most innovative in Australia in 2019 with the Principal also named as the Australian Principal of the Year (Government Schools) in 2019. There is a strong culture of school-developed professional learning to facilitate our vision as expressed in our strategic plan, which is based on the premise that excellence comes when students and staff commit to becoming the best they can be, contributing to the local and global community in a meaningful way. Plumpton believes this goal can be best realised within a supportive, innovative, creative and stimulating educational environment focussed on building intellectual capacity, positive relationships, strong self-concept, leadership capacity and high-quality reflective practices.

About the role

Student Support Officers work within the school community in partnership with the learning and support team and school counselling service to enhance student social and emotional wellbeing and learning outcomes.
