The Opportunity:

As a System Engineer / DBA, you will be hands-on and work with various internal and external teams to ensure the delivery of services within existing Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). You will act as the escalation point for incidents and service requests arising within Technology and Platforms area relating to the MS SQL environment. Your professionalism, pragmatic and strategic approach will drive and ensures excellence in IT support services, documentation, team performance and continuous improvement in the MS SQL space.

 Key responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in all Service Management processes
  • Escalation point for major incidents and problem management
  • Develop, review and maintain Knowledgebase articles for the Infrastructure services
  • Recommend continuous improvement across the Connectivity and Platforms portfolio
  • Attend and provide input to the regular Change Advisory Board (CAB) Meetings
  • Develop preventative maintenance regimes where there are identified gaps
  • Implement preventive maintenance regimes across all equipment (hardware/software)
  • Provide 3rd level systems support and maintenance

      What You Will Bring:

    You will have experience in a technical role supporting server infrastructure with excellent problem-solving ability and strong focus on automation and process improvement. You will be able to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills as well as presentation, data analysis, reporting and documentation skills.

    You will also have:

  • A solid background in Infrastructure services
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
  • MCTS, MCSA, and/or MCSE certifications a plus
