Attention Primary Teachers! This is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your teaching career in a role where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of students in this temporary position. Woorabinda State School are seeking a Local Relief and Learning Support Teacher who is passionate about helping young people develop into informed, creative and energetic members of the community.

Woorabinda is located in Central Queensland, 170km south-west of Rockhampton and 65km south of Duaringa. The town is situated on the traditional lands of the Wadja and Gungaloo Aboriginal peoples. Woorabinda has a hospital, stadium, sports complex, pastoral community, swimming pool, retail store, café, post office and butcher shop. From the town there are sealed roads to Rockhampton via the Capricorn Highway and to Baralaba, whilst there is a dirt road to the nearby community, Bauhinia Downs.

Woorabinda State School is a Kindergarten to Year Six school. The school’s motto is ‘Proud and Deadly’, with the school rules being Be Proud, Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful. The local traditional owners, elders and community members are actively engaged in the school community and help to ensure that local history, family histories and language are being implemented in the school curriculum. Children are also taught traditional dance along with two local traditional Aboriginal languages, Ghungalu and Wadja.
