About the Opportunity

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs analytical tests and procedures offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. The candidate possesses the technical ability and problem‑solving skills to perform all tests (both manual and automated) in the clinical and environmental laboratories. He/she conducts laboratory tests with a network of steps and variables according to established protocols and works with little or no supervision, even in emergency and weekend/night situations.

In addition, the technologist operates instruments that are often computer‑integrated and networked, uses computerized information systems, compares test results to pre‑established criteria (reference intervals), and makes decisions regarding reportability of results, exercising independent judgment.
