Pharmacy Assistant

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for a range of technical tasks delegated by the Pharmacist, Compounding Specialist, Pharmacy Supervisor, or Infusion Pharmacy Manager in accordance with the Bayshore Delegation of Controlled Acts policy and the Ontario College of Pharmacists Delegation of Controlled Acts policy. The technical tasks delegated by the compounding specialist follow the appropriate supervision protocol and quality control measures and are related to sterile‑preparation compounding with the appropriate training, using a formal delegation process that complies with the requirements of the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

The Pharmacy Assistant aids in the processing of prescriptions by accurately entering all relevant patient, medication, and billing information and prioritizing the sequence with which they are completed.
