SPECIALIST COUNSEL (3-5 years’ Mining or Exploration Experience)

Overview

Established in 1851 in Australia, BHP is a global mining company with operations across the world. The Legal team seeks a full-time position based in downtown Toronto to support BHP’s global Exploration team and North American legacy assets.

Responsibilities

• Support exploration deals and regulatory compliance in multiple jurisdictions globally.
• Negotiate and advise on earn-in agreements, option agreements, and joint venture agreements.
• Collaborate with a broad range of business groups, tackle problems, determine practical solutions, and build relationships with internal clients.
• Provide support to the Exploration team and legacy assets in Canada and globally.
• Report to the Head of Exploration and Legacy Assets Legal, based in downtown Toronto.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of in-house and/or private practice mining experience, gained at a top law firm or corporate.
