The goal of the position is to promote the protection and restoration of wetlands in the South Ostrobothnia Regional Centre area in connection with the HELMI habitat environment program.

Responsibilities

• Implement conservation sites offered by landowners, including assessing natural values and property worth, negotiating with landowners, and defining the area’s boundaries and necessary protection regulations.
• Present decisions on establishing private protected areas and prepare and sign sale and exchange documents.
• Conduct targeted marketing related to wetland protection, organize public events in collaboration with other actors, and advise landowners on conservation issues.
• Monitor and report on implementation, and serve as secretary for the regional METSO-HELMI cooperation group meetings.
