We are One Peninsula Health.What You Will Be Doing Peninsula Health' Department of Surgery is based at Frankston Hospital. The Department of Surgery consists of ten surgical units and provides surgical services across the specialties of General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, FacioMaxillary Surgery, Thoracics, ENT, and Urology.Successful applicants will work alongside professional and supportive surgical consultants and RACS-accredited registrars. You may be required to participate in on-call rosters and do night shifts. You will be based at Frankston Hospital, but may be required to work at other Peninsula health sites or be involved in care for Peninsula Health public patients at Frankston Private Hospital.Applicants should be HMO4 level or beyond, and intend to pursue a career in surgery.Successful applicants can expect to gain experience in operative surgery, ward & outpatient management of surgical patients, surgical audit and multidisciplinary care meetings.Peninsula Health is committed to encouraging and fostering an environment of continued learning and skill development. Trainees are ensured protected training time to attend structured registrar training sessions. They are encouraged to attend local/National conferences and workshops. In addition you may have the opportunity to participate in journal clubs, grand rounds, clinical meetings, training sessions, teaching of medical students and to undertake or participate in a research project.Under direction, provide appropriate medical care to patients and assist more senior doctors in complex cases.• Build and expand personal skill levels to ensure that clients receive the best possible service reflecting up to date evidence based professional practice• Be aware of and work in accordance with organisational policies and procedures including occupational health and safety and relevant legislative requirements.• Demonstrate positive workplace behaviours and relationships at all times.What You NeedWe anticipate you will have:• MBBS or equivalent• Ability to work as an effective member of an inter disciplinary team• Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice• Eligibility for registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
