TechOps is a division of Helia and follows a squad model– we form in self managing teams to solve key business problems. Each squad is full DevOps and cross functional– they build, enhance, and operate their asset. Team members need to be 'specialist generalists' ie each person brings their key domain knowledge but also eager to work on other technologies or roles to ensure the squad meets its outcomes. To promote knowledge transfer, informal learning and solve problems in new ways we also form Communities of Practices to push forward new tools and techniques.
We love low code, our work with Appian cloud has won us a Global innovation award and we have an endless roadmap of operational and enterprise apps to be built. We are in the process of re-platforming our portals to Appian and are constantly in beta programs to experiment with new features such as IDP, RPA and AI. In addition to appian we have introduced Workato – a low code integration platform to enable devs to use a number of new low code technologies to solve business problems. We are curious on how far we can go with low code – if there are other tools that enables rapid cross skilling and rapid deployment we will explore them.
The Appian lead role drives this low code mentality into Helia and works as part of the hub of Digital Solutions – a small pool of people to support the squads. The hub ensures consistency and motivates developers to experiment with new features and refine their code, ensures the solutions are future proof and focuses on the user experience. You get to look at the solution as part of a wider platform to ensure the right approach is chosen – you couple with architects and other platform leads to guide teams but you also dig into the code to take good to great.
Responsibilities Support developers to design, develop and support of primarily Appian solutions and integrations
Contribute to the IT architecture and produce designs for solutions in consultation with Solution Architects
Lead by example to champion and enforce good Appian design practices including:
1. Design scalable Appian solutions, sharing best practices on building multiple solutions on Appian platform.
2. Continuous integration and automated deployments
3. Enable creation of automated unit and integration tests
4. Compliance with automated code quality analysis metrics and peer code reviews
5. Building a culture of high-quality development
Develop/maintain a culture which emphasises continuous improvement, owning and solving problems, and innovation
Help POs and developers to prioritise and size work.
Look at metrics to see improvement opportunities
Lead our Community of Practices to drive learning and innovation and work with the Delivery Practice Lead to grow our talent pool
 Create coach and development plans with specific team members in conjuncture with the Delivery Practice Lead to grow Appian skills across Helia
Work with Appian support and Helia infra teams to ensure platform stability, networking, security and upgrades – the coordination and project management of this will form a key part of the role.
Who you are Appian certified Lead Developer with experience of version 23 so understands the latest features and designs
Ability to Solution & integrate with multiple Technical Stacks including Appian, AWS, APIs & Microservices, Oracle, Document Automation, etc
You have a variety of experiences using latest version of Appian to solve business problems
Strong proficiency in writing SAIL logic, designing process models and interfaces
Aware of latest Appian features like modern records and have used these in solutions
You think you will make a good solution architect – you see how things work end to end opposed to just what you do
Experience with design patterns and distributed systems
Have experience in integrating enterprise applications with Appian and creating web APIs in Appian
You get excited about how APIs can reduce the effort for our customers
You realise production support work is a great insight what needs to be fixed in the next release (automation / improve the code etc)
Experience in working on Appian solution with various databases like AWS RDS, SQL Server, Maria DB etc.
Good understanding of connectivity and messaging protocols such as SFTP, HTTPS, SOAP/REST, JMS and TCP/IP etc.
Knowledge of high scalability, high reliability, high availability, and n-tier architectural systems
Workflow or other BPMS based systems
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to learn new technologies quickly
Good verbal skills for stand ups and want to share your opinions in retros
You think that your work is awesome, so you gladly show your work off in showcases
Have AWS solution architecture associate certificate or is willing to get certified
