About this opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, we have a new opportunity for a highly capable and experienced leader to join the Lizard Island team as an Assistant General Manager (AGM). You will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all operational aspects of the resort to ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
What we are looking for
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the resort, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, activities, marine, and transport.
- Supervising and motivating, leading by example a multicultural team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborating with department heads to develop and implement strategies to enhance guest experiences and streamline operational processes.
- Maintaining effective communication channels with all departments to ensure smooth coordination and timely resolution of issues.
- Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as resort policies and procedures.
- Managing labour, and costs in line with budget and maximising revenue opportunities.
- Handling guest feedback and recovery promptly and effectively, striving to exceed guest expectations.
- Managing from the front in a hands-on capacity, not desk bound.
- Maintaining constant guest interaction from meet and greet through to their departure.
- Managing the full resort operation in absence of the General Manager
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as Resort Manager or Assistant General Manager within a Luxury Hotel or Resort
- Strong knowledge of luxury hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and spa
- Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Comfortable managing a P&L within an in depth understanding of labor costs, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse remote team.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and hotel management software (Opera highly regarded)
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
