About the role The Council's Arts and Culture Department is looking for casual librarians who will be responsible for providing excellent Customer and Information Services to the community.The main responsibilities will include: Acting as a duty manager to supervise, support and motivate a team;Resolving complex customer queries, complaints and other escalated issues to ensure fair and appropriate outcomes;Assisting customers and other staff members in the discovery and use of new technology; andSupporting the team by performing daily operating tasks as required. This is a casual role, and could be rostered at any library location on weekdays, weeknights and weekends. Ideally you would be available until pm on a Thursday evening to support the Libraries After Dark program.About youAs the successful candidate, you will have: A confident and flexible attitude with the resilience to continue to create positive customer experiences in a range of unique circumstances;Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to contribute to a harmonious and positive work environment;Experience in facilitating programs and training to enhance community engagement;Extensive experience in the use of current technologies and a passion about assisting the community to explore and use them;Ability to work at short notice in a busy team in a customer facing environment; andA relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
