Location:
Marrickville & District Hardcourt Tennis Club is a friendly tennis court, bar and restaurant in Marrickville in the heart of Sydney's Inner West. This is a very popular Portuguese restaurant and busy service can be very high pressure.
The kitchen is run more like a home community kitchen by Portuguese cooks. They cook cook with their hearts and need someone who works well in a high pressure situation (created by a small kitchen).
Work Type:
Part-Time Apprenticeship (20 hours over 5 days - Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday) as required.
What’s involved:
As an Apprentice Chef, you will learn alongside qualified Chefs in all aspects of food preparation and presentation. Working with us allows you to learn and build experiences from skilled professionals within a commercial kitchen environment. You will be working at one of our great host venues, working with large quantities of food and a variety of seasonal ingredients. Key activities you can expect will be:
- Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of dishes.
- Learn different knife and cooking techniques.
- Clean, maintain and store kitchen equipment appropriately.
What we are looking for? The successful candidate will have;
- Basic vegetable and meats preparation skills
- Basic cooking skills - deep fryer, grill and salamander
- Eagerness to complete studies
- Excellent listening and communication skills

In order to be eligible for an apprenticeship in NSW you must be either an:
- Australian Citizenship
- Australian Permanent Residency
- New Zealand Passport Holder residing in Australia for more than six months.
