Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Chief of Staff/Support Services, and considerable independent judgment, discretion, and initiative are exercised in carrying out daily activities.Examples of DutiesManages media relations for the organization, which may include organizing press conferences.Acts as the organization’s spokesperson and responds to members of the media in a timely manner; composes, reviews, and /or distributes press releases.Reviews and approves or facilitates review and approval process for public communications regarding the organization.Oversees external, public-facing communication and branding in various online and print platforms such as Linkedln, Twitter, Facebook, and industry magazines.Oversees or collaborates with other teams in the development and maintenance of the Organization’s website.Produces, edits, and distributes print, photographic and video materials for internal and public distribution.Collaborates with executive leadership, and/or other stakeholders to develop a public information strategy and guidelines for the organization.Assists executive leadership in developing presentations, speeches, and other important public messages.Schedules and plans special events that are open ot the public.Serves as the representative for the organization’s public events hosted by local charities or civic organizations.Oversees and schedules tours, open houses, or similar exhibitions of the organization’s offices and facilities.Develops and maintains professional relationships with members of the media.Develops, implements, and adheres to the communications budget.Maintains/updates crisis communication plan, media policy and social media policy.Represents the City/provides support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during activation.Attends annual EOC training as required.Minimum QualificationsQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or closely related field; Five (5) years’ experience in public relations, communications, or related field required, with supervisory experience preferred.Required Licenses/Certificates:Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.Supplemental InformationSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position will directly supervise 1 employees.This position may indirectly supervise 1 employees.If applicable, supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.ANALYTICAL ABILIT Y/ PROBLEM SOLVINGMODERATELY STRUCTURED.
