The Capability Value Realisation Centre (CVRC) is your strategic partner in harnessing optimal value from capability endeavours. Our Centre seamlessly integrates with diverse business sectors to elevate the return on capital investment initiatives, fostering efficient collaboration and driving change management.
The Collaboration Program is a team of APS Collaboration Specialists who work with individuals and teams to enable complex problem solving and accelerated business outcomes within the Home Affairs Portfolio.
The team apply contemporary collaboration methodologies and techniques (such as Human Centred Design and Design Thinking) and actively engage with multiple business areas to support improved outcomes for the organisation. Their services include a series of accelerated planning and problem solving workshops to support the department's investment portfolio from idea inception through to sustainment and disposal.
The team co-designs and facilitates face-to-face, hybrid or blended workshops in the purpose built Collaboration Centre in Belconnen, Canberra.

Duties and responsibilities
The EL1 Collaboration Specialist will work closely with the Director and other EL1s on the embedding, growth and evolution of the Collaboration Program, as well as delivering on the current services including leading, co-designing and facilitating collaborative workshops.
They will have a strong leadership role within the section with an emphasis on autonomy, mastery and generating a sense of purpose. They should embody the principles of value creation and delivery, professionalism and quality, and continuous improvement.
Working under broad direction, the EL1 is a dynamic leader responsible for:
managing relationships for the program particularly with the senior executive across the department and the Australian Border Force (ABF)
building collaboration capability by actively coaching others and mentoring junior members of the team to build capability
managing and planning the strategic priorities, workflow and performance of others where necessary
working closely with colleagues to provide a high-quality, professional service that enhances the program's reputation internally and across government
developing and implementing initiatives which support continuous improvement and excellence in service delivery
Lead the scope, design and facilitation of collaborative workshops that address complex organisational problems and elicit active stakeholder engagement
Co-design effective, 'customer focused' workshops through early and genuine engagement, professional advice and the ability to communicate persuasively
Utilise industry best practice methodologies and approaches in their own professional practice as well as bringing insight and innovation to the design process in order to challenge thinking and encourage new approaches to achieving outcomes
Coach others in best practice to build capability and embed collaboration excellence into business processes
Actively identify opportunities for improvement, considering future needs and the changing strategic operating environment.

Effective written and verbal communication skills
Stakeholder engagement skills
Leadership, coaching and mentoring
An understanding of contemporary collaboration methodologies and techniques (such as Design Thinking and human Centred Design) including experience in applying these skills in complex environments - or have the willingness to learn
Superior senior relationship management and critical thinking skills
Contemporary leadership skills including personal agility, resilience and a growth mindset
Ability to adopt and embed holistic best practice approaches to achieve effective collaboration outcomes
The ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for improvement.
Desirable requirements:
Change management experience and/or qualifications
Agile project management, including scrum methodologies
Data analysis and performance indicators/metrics, and
Website management, ICT platforms, applications and digital ways of working.

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
