We are committed to achieving aninclusive workforce that values, respects and thrives on diversity.About this OpportunityThe purposeof this role is to deliver administration support, customer service and public relationsoutcomes that enhance the operations of the Finance Department. specifically manageRates revenue including levying rates, debt recovery, payment arrangements,rebates, and review of reconciliations.Some ofthe key result areas for this position:Develop and maintain an accurate ratingdatabase and efficient and effective systems and processes in accordance withthe Local Government Act 1995 and other relevant legislative and regulatoryrequirements and in line with Council Policies and guidelines.Supervise the preparation, levy anddispatch of Councils Rate and Final notices.Administer Council's rate instalments andapprove special arrangement payment plans and direct debits within delegatedauthority.Coordinate all legal action on outstandingrates and liaise with the collection agent.Supervise the levying of interim rates,service charges and reconciliation of the valuations with the Landgate rollwith the assistance of the Rates Officer.Responsible for the day-to-day collectionof rates, service charges and all interim rates levied.Proactively maintain andfurther foster excellence in customer service values and culture throughout theorganisation and to external customers, with a consistently positive image of theCouncil being promoted to the find out all Key ResultAreas for this position, please refer to the position description that can befound on our website under the Career Opportunity section.About YouYouwill be working in a busy environment so the ability to work accurately and atpace is important. Our ideal candidate will be self-managed and brimming withinitiative. To be successful in this role, you must have extensive experiencein Rate Collection, Administration, Staff Supervision and Customer Service. Ourideal candidate also has Rates Advance Course or Local Government Training.Selection CriteriaExtensive, broadknowledge and experience in Local Government rating function experience.Considerableknowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act 1995 and relevantlegislation.Completion of RatesAdvance Course or Local Government training.Proven effectiveleadership skills, proactively leading and motivating a team.Well-developedwritten and verbal communication skills.Ability to maintainthe financial integrity of rates information.Skills in usingfinancial rating software systems (the City is currently using IT VisionSynergy Soft).Ability to useMicrosoft 365 Apps, including Outlook, Word and Excel.A willingness to beadaptive, innovative and flexible. Hours of WorkThis is a permanentfull-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a fortnight withnegotiated RDO per fortnightly or monthly.About the BenefitsThis positionis being offered on a salary of $102,973 - $120,067 per annum (depending on experienceand skill level) plus superannuation.
