The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Senior Vice-President (DVCR) in a key leadership position and drive the development, implementation and coordination of research grant operations at Monash University.
As the Director, Research Grants and Development , you will work with Faculties, researchers and professional staff to provide critical input into the strategic development of initiatives designed to secure Monash diversified funding for research, as well as drive operational excellence that delivers agile and responsive services across the grant application lifecycle.
Leveraging your exceptional leadership skills, you will lead a talented group of staff to deliver exceptional service to our researchers and to deliver quality, timely and expert technical and policy advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and their Executive team. Pivotal to this position will be the development of processes that support the goals of the Impact 2030 strategy and ensure Monash researchers are supported with the highest quality research development and grant services.
The Director, Research Grants and Development will also keep abreast of the national research agenda, policy and funding frameworks and tailor all aspects of operational management that maintains Monash high standards of integrity in complying with funding body standards. You will also represent the University at key research fora, and advocate for national policy and process changes prioritised by the Monash leadership team, as well as providing support to senior research stakeholders on research development services and related research policies.
Essential to this role is exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts, and capacity to negotiate, influence and build consensus at all levels on complex and sensitive issues. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated people management skills with the ability to ensure the development of a high-performance team culture, responding to the needs of the research community.
