A 2024 opportunity has become available for a dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our Labrador Kindergarten team, initially as a contract with the possibility of a permanent position for the right person. The role is part-time: 5 days per fortnight.
Labrador Kindergarten has been an asset of the Labrador community since 1957. It is a not-for-profit kindergarten, with community volunteer involvement, encouraging community connection. Labrador Kindergarten is an Approved Kindergarten Program Provider, supported by Lady Gowrie Queensland. We offer high-quality programs delivered to children 3-5 years of age. The kindergarten has a friendly, professional and collaborative working environment, with very experienced teachers and supporting staff who are committed to providing a safe, sensitive, and supportive early educational experience of the highest quality. A large focus for Labrador Kindergarten is the bush and beach, nature play program, being located in a beautiful setting across the road from the Gold Coast Broadwater, in a quaint building with a beautiful play garden.
About the role:
The successful Teacher will:
a. Have the skills and experience necessary to develop and deliver a high-quality, child-led kindergarten program to children aged 3-5 years, using the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and Early Years Learning Framework.
b. Have exceptional communication skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with families, children, co- workers, committee members and our community.
c. Provide educational leadership to the organisation and model collegiality.
d. Ensure quality, safe and continuous improvement of the play-based early childhood program.
e. Possess the necessary skills to effectively manage administration tasks required for their kindergarten program,
including communication, record keeping, and program documentation.
f. Be competent with use of technology in daily programming, feedback and observations to families. Experience with
Storypark or similar application, or ability to learn with training, is required.
g. Be required to demonstrate their knowledge of how to effectively plan indoor and outdoor learning environments, that
provide optimal and safe opportunities for learning.
h. Be able to self-manage and meet timelines.
i. Be required to demonstrate their initiative and innovation.
j. Be passionate about early childhood education in a community-based learning environment, with a willingness to be
involved with special kindy events and promote the service in the community.
k. Be required to work 37.5 hours per fortnight.
l. Have a dedication to furthering their own learning as an early childhood professional.
Selection criteria
Knowledge and experience
a. A minimum of 3 years experience in Early Childhood education.
b. Demonstrated ability to provide and document a high quality, play based early childhood program.
c. Commitment to ongoing professional learning and personal growth.
d. Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.
e. Understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Childhood Education and Care Legislation and the
Assessment and Rating Process.
f. Experience in a similar leadership role will be highly regarded.

Qualifications
a. Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (must meet ACECQA and QKFS requirements) / Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent NQF approved qualification that meets Approved Kindergarten Program Provider Teacher Recognition requirements.
b. Queensland College of Teachers Registration
c. Current Suitability Card or Exemption Card for Registered Teachers
d. Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma certifications for early childhood
