We're currently searching for two skilled and highly driven Environmental Health Officers to join our organisation in a full-time capacity. This position is vital in keeping the community safe by ensuring public and environmental health measures are upheld to the highest standards.

About this role
Reporting to the Environmental Health Coordinator, the role includes carrying out statutory functions of an Environmental Health Officer under the Food Act 1984, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Environmental Health Protection Act 2017, Tobacco Act 1987 and other legislated or general tasks related to the position.
A key component of the role will be to conduct routine inspections of registered businesses (food, accommodation, hairdressing and beauty premises, tattooists, caravan parks) ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The role will also be responsible for investigating communicable disease outbreaks and public health complaints, including noise complaints.
Other tasks include conducting education and enforcement inspections of tobacco retailers and mandatory smoke-free locations, as well as inspections and approval of onsite wastewater treatment (septic) systems.
Working with us will provide you with diverse experience, and you will be mentored with one-on-one coaching with your Coordinator. You will also be provided with a range of professional development opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:
- A Diploma or Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent.
- It is desirable to have two years experience working as an Environmental Health Officer.
- Member (or to be eligible to become a member) of Environmental Health Professionals Australia
- Hold a current satisfactory Police Check or willing to obtain one.
- Current Drivers Licence.
Salary and Conditions
The position is classified within Band 6 of Council’s Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $90,876.24 to $98,943.00 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
