Reporting to the Maintenance Works Coordinator you will: Operate plant such as an excavator, grader, water cart, roller, backhoe, skid steer loader, heavy vehicles or similar to construct or maintain Council infrastructure. Estimate the quantities and weights of loose materials such as soil, rock and gravel, and load the correct quantities and weights of materials onto trucks, trailers or other locations. Hoist, move and / or load other objects using chains and slings attached to plant buckets or attachments, in accordance with safe work method practices. Perform routine day-to-day inspections, maintenance and repairs to assigned plant and equipment to maximise the reliable and useful life of machines and their accessories, including checking and changing all oil levels, lubricating parts, changing filters, checking hydraulic fluids, etc. Assists Council's workshop staff with major services and repairs as required Ensure that all work conforms to required safety standards, including completion of risk assessments and site specific training for employees / contractors, installation and maintenance of signage, and implementation of Safe Work Method Statements and Traffic Control Plans. Direct the flow of traffic at work sites, including the use of stop/go signs to regulate traffic flow and maintain safety.
