Purpose of Role We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure and Networks Specialist to join our team at QTC. As a Cloud Infrastructure and Networks Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that our virtual IT infrastructure and outsourced networking (LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity) equipment is well maintained and supported, enabling the availability and reliability of the hosted business applications and services.In addition, you will provide expert consultancy through the technology design function to non-technical business application owners regarding cloud infrastructure, enabling the progressive transition of core business applications from private cloud to hybrid and public cloud infrastructure.If you are passionate about cloud infrastructure and networking and are looking for an exciting new challenge, we would love to hear from you. Please apply today!Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesAct as the owner of QTC’s outsourced cloud IT services, from infrastructure to database layers, including:virtual servers and appliancesvirtual desktop servicescloud storage, including private and public cloudassociated services e.g. Backup-as-a-Service, and any associated system softwareand local and wide area networking services including:Switches, routers, and wireless access pointsprimary and secondary (redundant) network connections between QTC offices and outsourced data centresredundant internet connectionsMicrosoft Azure ExpressRouteRemote access services, andVirtual private network (VPN)ensuring that it:is available as required by the relevant application availability targetshas sufficient capacity to meet the application driven demandis covered by outsourced support agreements commensurate with the business needis regularly maintained with security patches, bug fixes, firmware version upgrades, andperiodically refreshed to ensure ongoing supportability is enabled.Work with the technology design and delivery functions to develop and implement a roadmap for the provision, enhancement and ongoing maintenance of in-scope IT infrastructure and networking equipment, ensuring that QTC’s business change governance process is adhered to and aligned with during the implementation phase.Manage and govern the outsourced support and maintenance for infrastructure and networking services through the development and application of account governance frameworks in collaboration with the Procurement team.Contribute to the governance and supplier management of QTC’s primary Managed IT Services provider including:active participation in the agreed Account Governance Framework, in collaboration with Vendor Management and Procurement and Service Management colleaguesbuilding and maintaining constructive relationships with delivery team leaders and account representatives for escalation purposes, andescalating instances of under-performance and managing issues to resolution.Prioritise and manage the efforts of the outsourced infrastructure support teams to best align with technology and business drivers.Other duties as deemed relevant to business requirements and within the technical competency of the position.CompetenciesTechnical CompetenciesStrong technical knowledge of current IT infrastructure and networking trends and associated industry best-practice approachesUnderstanding of contemporary technology project management methodologies.Basic budget and financial management capabilityBehavioural CompetenciesProactive approach focused on, safely, delivering positive results.Integrity, including upholding strong professional and ethical standards.Achievement focus, earning the respect of others and sharing responsibility well.Desire for excellence, using flexible and agile processes to continuously improve.Respect and affiliation, including recognising contributions, welcoming ideas, acting with honesty, being inclusive and embracing diversity.Self-actualization, including acceptance of facts, lack of prejudice, ability to solve problems, sense of morality creativity and spontaneity.Leadership & Management CompetenciesAbility to manage outsourced IT service providers in a complex multi-vendor environment, including:Service level management / Service performance managementRelationship managementRisk managementFinancial managementthrough the application of formal and informal governance processes.Ability to lead and manage change initiatives and projects in the IT infrastructure domain, coordinating resources from multiple suppliers and managing tasks to schedule, risks and communication to stakeholders.The ability to manage organisational change impacts of IT infrastructure work would be highly regarded.QualificationsEssentialRequires a University Degree in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.DesirableMicrosoft Azure certification (e.g. AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)ITIL® Foundation certification (version 3 or above)Project delivery certification (Agile or similar)ExperienceEssentialMinimum of 5 years prior relevant experience required.Delivery of infrastructure and networking services in organisations of similar size and complexity through the management of outsourced service providers.DesirableRecent experience in delivering public cloud services through a managed service provider.Experience in delivering technology projects.
