About the Hospital: North Canberra Hospital (formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce) and Clare Holland House are now run and operated by Canberra Health Services (CHS)
This is a significant milestone as the ACT Government moves towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra's Northside.
The current North Canberra Hospital is a level 4 hospital that provides a range of acute and sub-acute services including community based care to the residents of the northside of Canberra and Southern NSW. North Canberra Hospital (NCH) is a 270 public hospital located in Canberra's expanding northside. North Canberra Hospital operates a 24 hour Emergency Department. Inpatient services include general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health and critical care.
Other service modalities include day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home and the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation service that reaches into aged care facilities across the ACT.
The new Northside Hospital will be built on the existing Calvary Hospital campus in Bruce. It will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors and its workforce and will provide more beds and increased services. Until then, it's business as usual at the NCH, and we'll keep providing high-quality care to our patients and community.
About the role: The role of the Intensive Care and Coronary Care Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is to provide a coordinated and structured approach for operational nursing within the ICU/CCU. Within the prescribed legislation, the CNC provides proficient clinical, management, quality and safety and education leadership and are responsible for the total patient care and operational activities within the unit. This facilitates the delivery of efficient and evidence based care for patients and families
Under limited direction of the ICU/CCU Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) you will perform clinical and administrative duties in line with a CNC RN L3.2 role. You will: • Provide leadership and be responsible for the coordination of total patient care activities within ICU/CCU to meet operational goals, including management of people and material resources. 
• Liaise with multi-disciplinary team members and use quality management principles to ensure ongoing review and development of high standards of patient care. 
• Evaluate nursing practice through regular staff performance appraisal and identification of staff development needs. Support the development of novice staff through the provision of clinical teaching, preceptorship and mentoring. 
• Review and evaluate clinical practice requirements including regular audits, addressing deviation from best practise through the management of the departmental education team and quality portfolio groups, be responsible for monitoring of RN L2 portfolios. 
• Foster a positive safety culture through leadership, role modelling, including constructive feedback. 
• Actively pursue own continuing education and professional development, including representation of ICU/CCU on internal and external committees, including the NSQHS standards. 
• Undertake any additional activities as delegated by the ICU/CCU ADON. 
• Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Position Requirements / Qualifications Mandatory •  Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing or similar and a minimum of 5 years' experience working professionally in Critical Care environments.
•  Experience in/or Leadership and Management Training or working towards.
•  Registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)(nil conditions or restrictions)
•  CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide  Digital Health Record . Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.
