Depending upon the experience of the successful applicant, the appointment may be at PHO or registrar level.The Intensive Care Unit Principal House Officer/ Registrar will see a wealth of medical and surgical pathology managed by senior clinicians. The busy 18 bed ICU provides tertiary level care to critically ill patients. There is a predominantly surgical case mix with most specialties represented: cardiothoracics, neurosurgery, vascular, hepatobiliary, orthopaedics, bariatrics, and obstetrics as well as general medicine, interventional cardiology, renal, oncology and haematology.Working closely with the VMOs and nursing team, duties include attending responsible for the ongoing care of all patients in the ICU and for communicating clearly with the Intensivist on duty as well the VMOs as required.This role plays an important part in supporting admissions, discharges and task resulting from the daily ward round and the ICU junior medical staff contribute to the hospital MET and cardiac arrest teams.
