Junior Medical Officer - Vascular Surgery Junior Medical Officer - Vascular Surgery Residents & Registrars (Healthcare & Medical) Position - Unaccredited Trainee - Vascular Surgery Location - Illawarra / Shoalhaven - Wollongong Hospital. Salary - As per NSW State Award We have partnered with Illawarra/ Shoalhaven Health District assisting to fill their Junior Medical Officer positions in Vascular Surgery. The Unaccredited Trainee Positions are primarily based out of Wollongong Hospital. Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities. PRIMARY PURPOSE To provide effective clinical management of Surgical Vascular patients under the supervision of specialist staff. To assess patients referred by the Emergency Department and other hospital departments. To participate in the after hours on call roster with other trainees and gain further knowledge, skills and experience in vascular surgery. KEY CHALLENGES * Working in a complex environment where there are competing priorities and strict deadlines. * Developing strong working relationships with a multidisciplinary workforce. * Demonstrating initiative to resolve issues. * Completing a comprehensive patient history by obtaining the history from the patient and from other relevant sources (e.g. medical record, family, nursing home, general practitioner, ambulance transfers sheet etc). * Documenting the full history and physical examination within progress notes even if a covering doctor admits the patient. * Legible, accurate and signed progress notes must be written every day and particularly after every ward round. SELECTION CRITERIA 1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia 2. Minimum two years post graduate experience 3. Sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent vascular surgery trainee 4. Teamwork and leadership skills 5. Excellent time management and organisational skills 6. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills 7. Experience in teaching both Undergraduate & Postgraduate Students 8. Moderate Computer Skills SELECTION CRITERIA 1.
