About the role
The Lead Application Analyst develops and maintains large, complex corporate systems that facilitate the achievement of the Department’s core business through the use of process and technology.The Lead Application Analyst provides sound, technical and professional advice to the role supervisor, and actively contributes to planning, system documentation and reporting. Duties include but are not limited to;
·Provide design, analysis and/or programming expertise into the development, and/or enhancement of complex software applications, systems and prototypes.
·Provide ongoing third level technical support for applications; triage incidents, analyse and resolve problems, and where necessary, follow-through with external service providers or other teams in the department; monitor recurring problems to identify trends and resolve performance issues.
·Maintain timely and accurate system documentation, including change requests, technical and user guides, software asset and configuration registers, problem and resolution knowledge bases, and other documentation produced for applications during the program and/or system lifecycle.
·Assume technical responsibility for all stages of the software development process to ensure compliance with development standards and achievement of documented requirements.
·Monitor applications for issues, analyse logs, generate reports/statistics on large applications and act proactively to avoid application disruptions.
·Contribute to ICT planning to ensure that programs and systems are considered in the context of emerging ICT requirements; actively contribute to future resource and capacity planning, ICT security and disaster recovery planning activities to provide adequate protection for the Department and system users.

About you
·The Department of Digital Teaching and Learning provides effective development of digital learning, curriculum support, teaching resources, and fosters an ethos of continuous improvement to ensure all learners experience high quality teaching and learning.
·The Learning Management Applications portfolio is responsible for several applications that support the business processes of curriculum management, learning and development support for students, planning, managing and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment processes for teachers and corporate staff. The applications cater to students and staff across NSW, and corporate staff for the department.
Essential requirements of the role
·Valid working with children’s check or be willing to obtain one
·Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
Key knowledge and experience
·Demonstrated experience in one or more large scale enterprise technologies with experience in supporting application maintenance, platform upgrades for legacy systems, incident management and investigations.
·Significant knowledge in design, development, and testing of applications based on object-oriented programming language [RESTful APIs, VueJs/React, J2EE/Java, OpenShift, JBoss EAP7, LDAP Directories, TIBCO, SOA Web Service Standards, Cloud technologies]
·Sound working knowledge of IT service management principles and frameworks including ITIL, process tools, frameworks, and best practice methods.
·Experience in front-end development using VueJS, React or Angular.
·Currency of and in-depth familiarity of databases such as Oracle and/or SQL Server.
·Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s and upholding the and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
