The Mental Health Nurse Consultant Role
The Nurse Consultant - Mental Health Nurse Consultant will provide clinical, educational and professional mental health services within the general medical/emergency department setting. The Mental Health Nurse Consultant works in partnership with a range of stakeholders from regional South Australia (SA) and Rural and Remote Mental Health Service (RRMHS) and supports the development of MH clinicians in the Flinders and Upper North LHN to provide an integrated mental health response.
The Mental Nurse Consultant will work closely with the FUNLHN Community Mental Health Teams and will be responsible for providing education and mentoring to Flinders and Upper North LHN staff to improve skills in managing mental health consumers.
Employees classified at this level provide clinical, educational, nursing expertise to contribute to the improvement of high quality, safe mental health services and provides clinical and consultancy services that support the recovery of mental health consumers across community acute and rehabilitation service settings.
Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
Various practice models may be used to enact this role, including but not limited to:
Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
Must hold a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
