About you: You are an experienced Director of Nursing ideally with educational qualifications at master's level or evidence of enrolment in master's course with completion within 4 years of enrolment in a related field. You have experience in strategic planning and the implementation of new models of care, programs, and initiatives and knowledge of national, state, and professional standards, policies, strategic directions, and evidence of use/application. You are confident with high-level negotiation, interpersonal engagement, and communication skills with experience with industrial and complex Human Resource situations within a dynamic, complex organisational environment.
Your opportunity: The Midwifery & Nursing Director functions as a member of the Intensive Care, Women's and Perioperative team at Cairns Hospital and provides operational midwifery/nursing leadership and management to ensure the provision of high-level clinical service that is woman and family centred and operates at the highest standard. The Midwifery & Nursing Director is also a member of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service Nursing and Midwifery Leadership Committee and the Cairns Hospital Nursing and Midwifery Committee.
Your role: The Midwifery/Nursing Director position has a professional reporting line of responsibility to Cairns Hospital Director of Nursing and Midwifery (CHDONM), and operational reporting line to the Director Intensive Care, Women's and Perioperative (ICWP).The Midwifery/Nursing Director provides advice and strategic guidance to the Director ICWP and the CHDONM to promote the continuous improvement of these nursing and midwifery services. In addition to this, the role provides professional guidance, leadership and support to relevant nursing and midwifery professionals and is responsible for portfolios as allocated.The Midwifery/Nursing Director is accountable for leadership, innovation, and excellence in the continuum of care for nursing and midwifery services. In collaboration with the Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology the position will provide service direction, coordination, strategic planning and efficient and effective use of human and material resources.In collaboration with the DONM Rural and Remote Services, Rural facility DONMS, Medical Superintendents and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinical Director provides expert guidance and knowledge across the CHHHS regarding all aspects of Maternity and Women's Health Service delivery.As a Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service employee, not only will you receive competitive remuneration, you will also have access to:
