Position Purpose
The role is responsible for all aspects of workers’ compensation claims and the return to work of injured employees in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements to deliver an early and safe return to the workplace following injury or illness.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an internal advisor to the business for the development of workers compensation and injury management strategies to facilitate injured workers return to work, recover at work and return to pre-injury duties.
- Provide proactive workers compensation and injury management support to managers and the business to minimise the occurrence of incidents and costs associated with workers compensation claims.
- Support and assist injured workers through the workers compensation processes to achieve a positive outcome.
- Develop and implement early intervention systems to facilitate and improve return to work outcomes and minimise lost time.
- Implement and review proactive case management plans for all workers compensation claims to minimise the cost of claims to reduce premium costs.
- Identify training requirements in relation to workers compensation and injury management for managers.
- Review, develop and update workers compensation and injury management training packages to meet legislative and business requirements.
- Develop training package for induction and onboarding of new managers in relation to WC and injury management.
- Respond to WorkSafe regulators request for information.
- Work closely with the Manager HSE to identify injury trends and develop strategies to assist in prevention of common injuries.
- Participate in and prepare investigation reports into injuries where required and directed.
- Regularly review and update internal policies and procedures as they relate to WC and IM.
- Liaise and maintain open communication with all key stakeholders, including injured worker, treating practitioners, insurance personnel and managers to ensure best outcome for injured worker is achieved.
- Develop and maintain register of suitable duties across our worksites.
- Develop and provide monthly report on injury management statistics, including trend data, and relevant benchmarks.
- Co-ordinate and prepare for quarterly claims review meetings with insurers in each state/territory we operate in.
Qualification
Mandatory
- A relevant certificate or diploma
- Workcover Accredited RTW Co-ordinator
Desirable
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment
