Program Officer - SES Strategic Liaison and Assurance SES Strategic Liaison and Assurance Unit supports the delivery of SES organisational priorities and objectives through the initiation and management of strategic engagement and corporate governance and assurance. The unit is also responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of corporate services ensuring SES state and regional capabilities are developed and maintained. Reporting to the Executive Manager, Strategic Liaison and Assurance, you will be a key member of the team responsible for supporting stakeholder engagement, strategic communications and governance and business improvement activities to deliver valuable and sustainable benefits to SES staff and volunteers. About us As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service (SES), and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders. Please note: This position will be transitioning to Queensland Police Service (QPS) as part of a Machinery of Government Change prior to 30 June 2024, with the SES due to become an entity of the QPS. As part of this transition, you will be required to undergo QPS vetting in accordance with the Police Service Administration Act 1990. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements * Experience or qualifications in a communications related area (i.e. Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing). Experience and/or understanding of working with volunteer groups and partner agencies. Special requirements * The incumbent will be appointed as a staff member of the SES and the hours of duty applicable to this role are pursuant to the Queensland Public Service Officers and Other Employees Award - State 2015: specifically, the spread of ordinary hours for SES staff are 0600 to 2200, Monday to Sunday. * It is expected the incumbent will participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster during emergency operations. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include travel to rural and remote communities, intrastate or interstate travel as necessary and/or deployment activities to other parts of the state. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: * Provide program and administrative support in the development and review of policy, frameworks and initiatives, and any associated tasks to ensure quality outcomes are delivered. * Identify information needs in relation to the implementation of the key projects and business improvement initiatives, and provide advice about the progress of activities and milestones to meet program objectives. * Assist with the development and monitoring of communication and engagement strategies, and key partnership arrangements, including the establishment and management of processes, systems and platforms. * Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, tools and templates ensuring they align with departmental and Queensland Government requirements. * Research, analyse and report on information relevant to allocated projects, and maintain governance and controls for the effective administration of activities in line with required work program. * Assist in the research, preparation and review of reports, briefing notes, submissions and other correspondence relating to program initiatives, in accordance with internal governance requirements. * Liaise with stakeholder and various levels of management and senior executives internally and from other government agencies, to further progress work and activities being undertaken within the Strategy and Planning directorate. * Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships to support program activities and ensure effective service delivery and business objectives are met.
