About the Role Gaining excellent exposure to the operations of our business and external stakeholders, we have a rewarding role for an experienced Project Manager – Pastures and Soil to join our Research and Development team. The successful applicant will develop and oversee projects with a range of research partners to progress MLA's investments in Sustainable Feedbase Resources (i.e. native and sown pastures, soil, and other aspects of the natural environment). Possessing excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will travel nationally to meet with red meat producers and their advisors, and members of the research community as you help develop solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing Australian agriculture. The successful applicant will have postgraduate qualifications and experience in multiple relevant science disciplines (e.g. agronomy, soil science, plant science, biometrics, agricultural systems) and a passion for delivering on-ground impact. The applicant is expected to be based in Sydney, Armidale or Brisbane, however an alternative arrangement may be negotiated with an outstanding applicant based in a suitable region. Our ideal Project Manager – Pastures and Soil has: A demonstrated track record of delivering producer-focussed RD&A projects Post-graduate training and 5-10 years' experience in agricultural science, agronomy, natural resource management or related disciplines. Experience in multiple science disciplines relevant to the Feedbase Program (preferably including soil and plant science, and biometrics) Project management experience including project planning, negotiation, budgeting, implementation and review. Effective networking skills to disseminate and link industry programs with other MLA and external initiatives. Ability to work effectively in teams, provide leadership to both team members and stakeholders and deal effectively with conflict.
