That is HDU patients who have life-threatening or potentially life-threatening conditions such as multi-organ dysfunction. HDU patient management requires continuous monitoring, point of care diagnostics and complex supportive therapy.The unit has two single rooms. One which is a negative pressure isolation room and the other a cardiac protected room. Also, there are four open bays. The unit is located adjacent to the Kalgoorlie Health Campus Emergency Department. The unit may be operated as a five or six bed unit depending on acuity, staffing and requirement.
