Tasmania's West Coast is a world apart – a string of vibrant and close-knit communities, connected by roads that wind between rugged peaks and valleys, surrounded on all sides by unique Gondwanan cool temperate rainforest. Rosebery (population 750) is an active mining town situated on the slopes of Mount Black. Waterfalls, lakes and walking trails abound.
The practice is the only medical centre in Rosebery, opening Monday to Friday. You will receive nursing and administrative support and if desired you can also provide outreach GP-only services to the nearby town of Zeehan. The local community health centre has no inpatient facilities and provides a 24/7 A&E service, with the majority of major presentations being transferred to Burnie, a 1.5 hour drive away.
The population of Rosebery is predominantly employed within the local mining industry, resulting in occupational health work at the practice where the workforce requires pre-employment medicals and some injury management. Pathology is undertaken by the nurse or doctor at the clinic. A pharmacy is located nearby within the town. Standard appointments are booked at intervals of 15 minutes and the doctors see an average of 25 – 30 patients per day.

HR+ provide an invaluable service to Practice Managers in Tasmania.Jenny has acted as a mentoring support for me since I commenced at Don Medical Clinic in September 2018, and also supported me through networking events and education during my previous practice manager role in Hobart. Having a mentor like Jenny from HR+ has made a huge difference to me as I find my feet in the challenging world of practice management.I have found the support that HR+ provide, not only with mentoring but also the events put on by the Practice Support team, and the email support networking resources that are regularly provided, are invaluable and I am sure for many other practice managers in the state.
