Aboutthe role and team We have anopportunity for an experienced Senior Associate to join ourthriving General Insurance practice in Sydney or Newcastle, workingwith a highly regarded team.
This rolesits within our General Insurance section, which has around 200team members nationally. The team has extensive expertise ingeneral liability, including public liability, product liability,property/ISR including expertise in analysing and managing issuessuch as timing of loss (manifestation of damage), component partanalysis, resultant loss and competing cause losses. Our clientsinclude Allianz Australia, QBE, Insurance Australia Group (IAG),underwriting agencies, and leading Lloyd's of LondonSyndicates.
This rolewill focus primarily on the defence of personal injury claimsacross public and product liability. You will be responsiblefor and have carriage of your own files, with appropriatesupervision.
Keyresponsibilities Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for:
reviewing documents andpreparing evidence; draftingcorrespondence to the Court and third parties; conference withwitnesses and preparing witness statements; supervising andmentoring junior lawyers; preparing briefs forcounsel; draftingCourt documents and attendance at Court; draftingclient advices; and draftingletters of instruction to experts. Skills andexperience We would liketo hear from you if you have the following skills andexperience:
at least5 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurancelaw, specifically within general liability; candidates from aplaintiff background will be considered; theability to supervise and mentor junior members of the team;and clear,concise legal writing skills with strong attention todetail.
