The successful candidate will have some experience supporting people who have experienced trauma and will be supported to grow their skills in the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal adults and children who have been sexually assaulted or who are under the age of 10 years with problematic and sexually harmful behaviours (Safe Wayz), and their non-offending family members. You will join a highly supportive tertiary trauma counselling team providing both crisis and ongoing counselling interventions, alongside community education and other prevention focused activities. The service adopts a strength-based, family focussed and culturally centred trauma-informed approach to working with children and families.The Aboriginal Sexual Assault Counsellor will support engagement with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and clients; also providing cultural consultation to support non-Aboriginal clinicians working with First Nations children and families where appropriate.
