Ryde Public School is located in the heart of the city of Ryde. The school is set on expansive grounds with buildings that reflect the long history of the school. Iconic sandstone buildings and modern classrooms blend to provide innovative learning environments. The students at Ryde Public School enjoy a holistic education that provides opportunities in the arts, sport, academics and nurtures social and emotional development.
Increased urban renewal and development in Ryde is supporting the growth in enrolments. The school community is a reflection of the rich cultural diversity of the city of Ryde. The school proudly serves the many families that have their first Australian school experience at Ryde. The school is enriched with an enrolment of 565 students who are from language backgrounds other than English (> 80%). The school supports programs for children with special needs, and four specialised classes for children with diagnosed learning disabilities. Fifty language backgrounds are represented within the total enrolments in the school. The school strives to provide inclusivity and sense of belonging that is felt from the moment that our students and community enter through the school gate.
Specific Selection CriteriaIn addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary
Demonstrated ability to balance exemplary classroom practice, leadership of the implementation of effective classroom management strategies that ensure compliance with school and departmental policies, and the complex leadership and management roles of an Assistant Principal.
Demonstrated experience in and ability to initiate, lead, implement and evaluate whole school, evidence-based pedagogy in literacy and numeracy with expert curriculum knowledge and a deep understanding of assessment and data.
Demonstrated ability to inspire, lead and build the capacity of a diverse range of teachers to work collaboratively in teams to support the implementation of the school’s strategic directions.
Proven ability to support student wellbeing and build on an inclusive school culture, including those from a variety of diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5.
