Granville East Public School is a vibrant, diverse school of 270 students serving a culturally rich community in Sydney's western suburbs. With 95% students having English as an additional language/dialect, we have over 24 different linguistic groups – 50% of students are from an Arabic speaking background.
Granville East PS has 24 teaching staff (11 mainstream teachers and 13 specialists) and 5 School Administrative and Support Staff. Leadership expertise and innovation are strong features of our staff. Our school has been working on building student agency, authentic learning opportunities and parent partnerships over the last 5 years. Our signature pedagogies include K-2 Learning Centres (play-based inquiry); Guided Reading and Writing across K-6 (explicit teaching); and student leadership of Learning Conversations (as part of our 3-way reporting). Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a focus on student-centered experiences.
Deep philosophical understanding of adult learning with evidence of facilitating professional learning to effect change in classrooms.
Demonstrated ability to engage with and lead curriculum reform to meet varying needs of students and teachers.
High expectations for students and staff with demonstrated capacity to visibly improve performance within a team.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies Conditions
