THE POSITION
The Educator Supervisor will plan, develop and implement individual and group activities for children aged 5 to 12 years in Out of School Hours Care and families with children 0 to 5 years at outreach playgroups, and provide care and supervision of children conducive to their needs and development.
Reporting to Coordinator of Children, Youth and Family Services, you will:
- Work as a team member to ensure the provision of an informed, coordinated and quality childcare service to children and their families.
- Maintain awareness of and compliance of relevant legislation and standards.
- Maintain awareness and compliance of National Quality Framework and Standards.
- Develops programs and builds a curriculum based on the My Time Our Place Framework, documenting events and promoting teaching techniques that stimulate, engage and enhance learning journeys for children.
- Promotes partnerships with families which contribute to a strong, inclusive community within the service, presenting a welcoming environment where the diversity of families and communities, and the aspirations they hold for their children, are respected and promoted as the foundation of the service.
- Maintains an understanding of obligations as a ‘Mandatory Reporter’, following the Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG) and lodges reports by telephoning the Child Protection Helpline and creating an eReport through the ChildStory Reporter Website.
- Acts in the role of Nominated Supervisor and Responsible Person as required and conducts duties in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
- Assists with activities in other areas of the Children, Youth and Family Services Section as required, including the delivery of the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) funded Playgroups.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Specifically, you will have:
Essential
- Eligibility to be the Nominated Supervisor and Responsible Person as approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) including holding an Approved Child Protection Certificate
- Sound awareness and understanding of relevant education and care guidelines, standards and legislation, with demonstrated practical experience in children’s services
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and guardians, both orally and in writing
- Class C Driver’s Licence (Car Licence)
- Ability to meet the requirements for a Criminal Record and Police Check and NSW Working with Children Check
Desirable
- Relevant qualification/s
- Current certificates in Apply First Aid, asthma / anaphylaxis management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Experience working with children with disabilities
- Experience in developing and coordinating supported playgroups
- Experience mentoring staff including the development and maintenance of staff rosters
