Legal Counsel (Office of the General Counsel)The Legal Counsel (Office of the General Counsel) assists the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsels in managing the many and varied legal affairs of Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, partnering and advocating to influence decision making and deliver sustainable solutions to solve the challenges faced by the health service and our consumers.
An opportunity has become available for aLegal Counsel (Office of the General Counsel)to joinGold Coast Health(GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Provide high quality and timely legal advice and support to the executive, administrative, research, and clinical areas
Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements
Enable informed decision making on law issues by drafting submissions, executive briefs, ministerial briefs, letters to Ministers and circular resolutions, where appropriate
Provide assistance in relation to legal claims made against, or on behalf of Gold Coast Hospital Service
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
Tertiary qualifications in Law and eligibility for admission as a solicitor or barrister in Queensland or High Court of Australia or agreed equivalent are mandatory for this position
A Practicing Certificate, or eligibility to hold a Practicing Certificate, from the Queensland Law Society
Minimum of 2 years post admission legal practice experience or agreed equivalent
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)
