Reporting to the OHS Director who is based in our Brisbane plant, (Virginia) you will be responsible for the effective management of the OH&S function in Virginia.

Your passion for safety and proven leadership ability will allow you to engage, influence and empower team members from the Site Leadership Teams through to our front line operators. The role will require a strategic mindset to develop and drive onsite safety initiatives. A key aspect of the role is also delivering best practice standards across the areas of injury management and workers compensation. In addition, you will interpret and apply safety legislation, conduct safety audits, develop risk mitigation plans and manage and enhance the overall site safety systems and culture.

Ingredients to be successful:

Prior experience in an OHS Manager Role preferably within a Self-Insured OrganisationA strong track record in an operational Safety leadership role with a site-based workforceExperience in empowering and growing frontline leaders and H&S Representatives to drive safety improvementsTertiary level qualifications in OHSProven influencing and relationship building skills at all levels within an organisationStrong knowledge of WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of PracticeExperience in managing onsite injury management and rehab requirements including a site early intervention and wellness strategyExperience providing recommendations to operational teams that demonstrate consideration for both the short- and long-term repercussions of all risk assessments and how they will impact upon the team members, exploring alternatives, understanding broad implications and making recommendations which are practical and results-orientedProject management skills to enable the planning and management of projects to deliver on objectivesProven ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to follow up and complete tasks autonomouslyAbility to be flexible and mobile to meet demands of the role, including hours of work and interstate travel as required
