  • We are seeking an experience Risk and Compliance Manager to be part of our 1st line of defence and who will assist with risk expertise within a Rabobank business unit. You will act as a change agent for risk management within the 1st line of defence.

    The role enables the Risk Owners to achieve their business objectives through the adoption of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and ensures that the way in which they manage their risks is both efficient and effective while acting within the parameters set by Rabobank Region Australia, New Zealand. The role is a position of influence and responsibility within the 1st line of defence in supporting the adoption of a strong risk culture.

    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Facilitate annual review of all risks and controls, monitor risks against established KRI’s and assist owners to align to the Risks and Controls Taxonomy.

  • Review and challenge risk and control effectiveness as assessed by the business unit, assist risk owners to identify and remediate gaps in controls and to meet obligations in the obligations register.

  • Assist risk owners to articulate business unit risk, ensure risk and controls are adequate for the current and expected business risk profile and new controls are drafted for newly identified risks.

  • Support business risk owners to update KRI’s and KPI’s consistent with group policies, frameworks and risk appetite.

  • Maintain and where necessary update the business unit risk profile and risk appetite in conjunction with business unit management.

  • Support business unit risk owners in L2 risk engagement, for example conducting walk-throughs of appropriateness, validation and challenge of existing risks and controls.

  • Ensure that business unit incidents are identified and captured in management information systems correctly, investigated where needed and acted upon with appropriate remediation and action plan.

  • Conduct regular deep-dive reviews into incidents identified, undertake root-cause analysis and draft lessons-learned recommendations for business unit management.

  • Review policy changes for business appropriateness, and support business leaders to identify impacted people, processes or systems, and support business to conduct gap analyses of new policies to current risks and controls.

  • Identify instances where a requirement for risk acceptance exists, and support business unit to draft risk acceptance requests, obtain necessary approvals and record in the information management system.

  • To be successful in this role you will need to be degree qualified in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years related experience in financial services industry with focus on controls, auditing, operational risk or process engineering is considered essential.

    Some of the required skills:

  • Excellent customer focus.

  • An understanding of operational risk management within the financial services industry and related regulatory standards (Basel and APRA Prudential Standards).

  • An understanding of banking and finance operations.
